As the holiday season come to a close cold and Flu viruses are running rampant! One of the best safety measures is to fortify your body from in inside out. Eating seasonally is a great way of doing just that! So here is a list of food that are in season for January:

  • Citrus fruits: You definitely want eat many of these as they are high in vitamin C and great for you immune system. Some the specific fruits to look for are ;  Meyer lemons, regular lemons, limes, mandarin oranges, navel oranges, and Texas ruby red grapefruit,  blood oranges, cara cara navel oranges (pink inside), and super-sized pomelos (pre-cursor of grapefruit, sweeter with thicker peels).
  • Root vegetables: on the list as beets, turnips and celery root. All of which have healthful benefits as well.
  • Winter squash: Squashes are a staple food in the colder months. They bring a warm heartiness against the cold weather.
